What is Participation Alimony (Child Support)?
With the divorce decision, the judge will give custody of the child to one of the spouses. The spouse who is given custody of the child will assume the care and protection of the child.
However, the care, education and other expenses of the child do not only belong to the spouse who has custody; the spouse who is not given custody must also participate in the expenses for the child’s care, education and other needs.
Here, the alimony that the spouse, who is not given custody of the child, has to pay for the child’s expenses is called participation alimony.
