What Does The Rejection Of The Inheritance Mean?

If the murisin(which means the person who left the inheritance or died) owes more than his inheritance, the heirs have the right to refuse the inheritance so as not to be liable for the debts of the murisin. In this way, the heirs can get rid of paying the debts of the murisin.

This issue is covered by Article 605 of the Turkish Civil Code. it is regulated in the article. Legal and appointed heirs can refuse inheritance. In addition, if it is clear or officially determined that the murisin is incapable of payment and in arrears at the time of his death, the heirs are deemed to have refused the inheritance by decision. However, it should be noted here that the law has established a 3-month period for exercising this right. During this period, legal heirs find out that they are heirs later, unless it is proved that they have learned about the death of the muris; it begins to function from the date when the bailiff’s savings are duly notified to them for the heirs appointed by the will.
