
Under the Criminal Procedure Code No. 5271 (CMK), criminal proceedings are divided into two stages. According to the law, the stage from the competent authorities becoming aware of the suspicion of a crime to the acceptance of the indictment is called “investigation,” and the stage from the acceptance of the indictment to the finalization of the judgment is called “prosecution.”

e. Investigation: The stage from the competent authorities learning of the suspicion of a crime to the acceptance of the indictment, according to the law.
f. Prosecution: The stage from the acceptance of the indictment to the finalization of the judgment.
